Neighbourhood Plan

Angmering Neighbourhood Plan 2014-2029

Angmering Parish Council has produced a Neighbourhood Plan. This is a community-led initiative, introduced by the Localism Act 2011, and sets out policies on the development and use of land in the Angmering area.

Following the coming into force of the Localism Act 2011, a Steering Group was set up in order to undertake the research necessary in order to put together a Neighbourhood Plan and to oversee its drafting and production. Following many months of hard and dedicated work by the Steering Group, the Neighbourhood Plan was put together and successfully completed the Pre-Submission Consultation, Submission Consultation and Examination stages of the process, being amended as necessary following completion of each stage.

As required by law, the Neighbourhood Plan proceeded to a referendum, held on 22 January 2015, and in response to the referendum question:

“Do you want Arun District Council and the South Downs National Park Authority to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Angmering to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”

1,768 votes were recorded in favour of a Yes - 96.93%
53 votes were recorded in favour of a No - 2.91%

There were 3 rejected ballots.

Turnout was 31.3%.

The Neighbourhood Plan was therefore overwhelmingly approved by the Parish community and was formally adopted by the Parish Council at its meeting held on 9 February 2015.

The Neighbourhood Plan was then formally made by Arun District Council by resolution at its meeting on 11 March 2015 and now has the full force accorded to it by the Localism Act 2011.
